International Day of Women in Diplomacy

SLOVENIA, June 24 - This is not only a celebration of achievements, but also a call to action to remove obstacles, provide equal opportunities and ensure that female voices are fully included in the process of creating a more peaceful, inclusive and sustainable world.

Slovenia has consistently supported the promotion of gender equality, multilateralism, innovation and human-centred approaches to global governance. Ambassador Darja Bavdaž Kuret, Special Envoy for Women, Peace and Security, is attending an event in Podgorica on the role of ministries of foreign affairs in promoting gender equality in the Central European Initiative region.

The European External Action Service (EEAS) will acknowledge the achievements of women in diplomacy through the actions of the Women Diplomats Network of the European Union (WEEAS) and the Women Diplomats Network (WEDIN EU). This event will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, promote best practices to advance women’s careers in diplomacy and hold a discussion on the role of women in shaping European foreign policy and encouraging gender equality worldwide. Slovenian women diplomats will also attend the event.
